To this day, I still quote this scene from the MGS Collab even though 99% of the people have no idea what the hell I'm talking about.

MindChamber responds:

hahaha

Ha, what a coincidence! Back when I got into animation over ten years ago I used Flash MX. I stopped for a long long time but have got back into art and whatnot the past couple years. Anyway, I want to animate again but no Flash is kind of trash and was considering trying out ToonBoom and being with Flash MX but seeing your video has pretty much sold me on ToonBoom!

I do have a question though, which I'm pretty sure I've answered myself, you are able to do actual frame by frame animation, correct? You have that option I hope? You aren't restricted to tweening are you?

Thanks for the video!

jessejayjones responds:

Yup! You can do great frame by frame animation with Toon Boom!

Looks awesome of course! The abilities reminded me a bit of Yoshi's Island with certain blocks changing your form into a train, etc, which is a good thing!

Butzbo responds:

Thanks! and looking back, that game reaally brought and polished so many new ideas for 2d platformers at the time, not to mention the artstyle aswell!

Very interesting.

I like the art style and the animation. I also liked the character designs as well. Some were very interesting and not too bland or generic, which I liked. On par with what others have said, text was almost too fast, voices would have been cool. But I think the main point of suffering is the writing. It might have been what you were going for but it seemed to be a little all over the place. Some details are left out as well, unless I missed them. In the description for the cartoon, as you mention above, this is the story of a video game minion's life, I feel that should have been told a bit more. Again, maybe I missed it.

Anyway, I look foward to seeing what else you have in store.

I hope this gets funded! Funds are super tight for me right now but I will definitely post it on twitter and facebook. The least I could do!

Here's a question, if it doesn't get funded, are you still going to attempt to make the DVD?

SamBakZa responds:

The thoughts still fight each other inside of me. I have tried to make DVD several times. Crowdfunding is only option until now. I will be able to try next year or later.

This is ya boy Egoraptor and I like dis cartoon.

I liked the artwork and even though the animation was a bit lacking but sometimes that's okay. Also, the music was really good too, had a good Sonic vibe to it.

Blordow responds:

i couldnt be farked animating seriously sometimes, yo thanks ego wow its really u??? wow hey oww

I love the art style; the patterns, the hard angles on everything, bright, looks very pleasant but maybe something much darker? The music was a good choice as well and the limited sound effects worked as well

Is the game going to have the same visual style?

Gerkinman responds:

Thank you for your feedback.

The game will feature this art style for combat and character portraits but use an 8bit aesthetic for the overworld. :)

I really enjoyed this! It was well written, acted out well, the music and sounds were great and the art was great too.

Can't wait to see more from you!

AFerrari08 responds:

Thanks so much! I am starting a new YouTube series, reworking my old The Rubber Army Show into something that actually looks a lot nicer.
I have also just joined Patreon so that people can see progress as I work on it :)

Seemed interesting at first but it really was nothing. I liked how mario smoking the cigarette seemed to signify his impatience or whatever but it could have been a whole lot more.

FleetAdmiralTony responds:

Im actually gonna make this a little trend for me to work on, like "mario hates mario maker 2" and so on, but I will make much more longer videos in the near future. I just wanna test the waters a bit. Thanks for the review man :D

Interesting you have 3 stars (with 77 views currently at my watching). The animation is great, along with the art style. I also find the VHS like effects an interesting choice of things. Not 100% sure if it fits with a theme because I didn't 100% feel like it did. I didn't dislike it, I just felt it was maybe an odd choice, for lack of a better word i guess. As far as the voices, they were okay but sometimes they were flat and not much differentiation between the two characters, though I know they were voiced by the same guy. Maybe one of the voices should have been a bit more...extreme or something just for the sake of difference between the two.

I was going to type more but I cannot remember what I was gonna type.

Gerkinman responds:

The original audio was recorded in 2004, I wanted the look of the short to represent that. At the time me and my friend who originally made this actually handed in our school animation assignments on VHS. I agree the voices could have used more variation, but again, they were recorded over 11 years ago so it would have been difficult to try to alter them.

Thanks for the feedback. ^^
